Walks down a mountain path

I have had more of these than I can count (walks down mtn paths). I usually have a camera in hand and more times than not my three little men in tow...There are times I just like to get out and enjoy my hikes right by myself. But either way if there is no camera in hand the trip seems such a waste....No pictures of what I see to share and my day is pretty much ruined. Its not that I cant enjoy the hike because I do enjoy it very much. Its just that I like to bring my hike home. I also like the way the camera affords me the luxury of slowing down and seeing things i'd normaly breeze right by if I were just hiking.

When I dont have my camera with me I still look at the world as if I were taking a pic. Focusing in on things that interest me and noting how beautiful it all is. I have gotten in the habit of looking at the world around me as if I am looking through a lens and let me tell you its such a beautiful world we live in if you can slow down long enough to enjoy even the smallest thing in your day. There is beauty all around and it does not have to be found in the mtns, it can be in your own yard. That is what makes my day or even my week. When I can focus in on something small and see that there is a beauty and simplicity in even the smallest of things.

About a month ago I took a nice little tumble in the river, busted up my knees and broke my camera (along with my heart) I checked that camera every day. I litterally submerged it in the river when I fell. It was dripping wet and I just knew it was over with. Now I am by no means a professional photographer. I take my pics just for fun and memories. Dont let it kid you I love to share them with friends and hopefully my kids will look back on them some day and feel blessed that they are so well photographed and see that they were lucky in all the things I do with them and share with them.

Right now its more of a hastle to them to be stuck in the woods hiking or fishing or camping, but maybe someday they will look back and realize just how much fun they really had. But as far as my camera is concerned I was certain it would never recover. I went at least two miserable weeks without it and missed a bunch of pics before I realised my camera phone worked pretty darn well as a back up.

See since I just take pics for fun and more importantly since I am a single mom of three little men I could not just run out and get a new camera. It was an expense I could not just justify because I wanted it alone, and not one my budget would have enjoyed being hit with either. So I went without it and checked it regularly with the hope it would someday dry out and function.
I had given up hope on it till about a week ago when my teen picked it up and started messing with it and like magic it turned on and immediately got put back into work.

Now I still use my cam. phone for pics as well....Since being dumped into the river my regular camera has a flaw in it. Sometimes it will not accept the memory card as being formatted and it will after about 50 pics ask me to format it which means I would lose those 50 pics. So I have to switch over to my phone and use it as a back up. Luckily it takes some pretty decent pics itself so all is well as long as my comp recognizes the card and I can access my pics on it for saving.

Just a throwback to being dumped in frigid river water. Believe me I understand its pain because I myself was out of commission for a week or so as well and felt like my kneecaps had aged twenty years on me instantly. Either way gist of the story is I am back on track with freezing little moments in time on my walks down mtn paths. I have been on some really nice hikes and a few uneventful ones. I am digging deeper into the paths around me, some are better than others by far and offer up some awesome views that humble me to my core. There is nothing like being able to experience it yourself in person, but I can share my experience for anyone bored enough to stop long enough to see.

There are a few things that I seem to capture that excite me when I see them. One is a good reflection in a still calm section of water and the other is natural hearts or even ones that are not natural that I fashion or someone before me fashioned. I see them everywhere and sometimes I capture a few here and there by mistake without even knowing I did it or that there was even a heart in what I was looking at. Those are the ones that make me all excited. Its just a habit I picked up when I started noticing them in my surroundings. I like to say its my love of nature comming back to me, but in reality nature has the heart shape down pat. Everywhere I look I see them and if there is a camera you can bank that I am going to get a picture of them so I hope you like reflections and love because I am sure you will see it repeated many times on this page.
